I’ve been seeing a ton of pictures of the New Government Center in Bacolod City on my dash. So, I decided to look for some old pictures me and my friends took there a two years ago.
But this is still my favorite.
Meet my friend/ brother Nathanael.
I still have no idea how we got away with this.
Here’s something my mom wrote. :D
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. One month in the year to be aware of a dreaded disease that affects mostly women. A disease that is devastating to the woman who suffers, and to her family and friends.
In October 2004, the Breast Care Center at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital was inaugurated. The Department of Surgery had seen so many cases of advanced breast cancer that putting up the Center seemed to be the logical solution. Maybe if we had a place for women to go to,where they would have access to free care, we could catch the disease in the early stages. It has been 7 years since that first October. We are still not at the stage where we get patients at early stages, but at least now, we are able to help with surgery, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, and most of all, emotional support, through the Kadughan Support Group.
I am blessed to be a part of this Center. Through the center I have met a lot of remarkable women. I have cried, held hands, laughed, hugged, walked in the rain, raised funds, attended funerals and had countless experiences that I would otherwise not have had, all because of these women who fight breast cancer every day and never give up.
To the women of Kadughan, thanks for allowing me to be a part of your lives. And to my good friend ROSE, I miss you, you may have lost the battle, but your legacy lives on in the Center and Kadughan.
Still Waiting For the Titile by Katumbal.
Another awesome song from one of my favorite bacolod bands, Katumbal.
I can’t wait to go home and see you guys again! :D
When I was younger, my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a total mastectomy and went through chemotherapy. She was one of the lucky ones and survived.
She lived to be 97 and passed away last year of natural causes.
I have become a breast cancer advocate. And I try to help out by educating our generation about this disease.
What most of you don’t know is, Breast Cancer is the number one cancer diagnosis in the Philippines and kills many men and women, young and old, every year.
There is no vaccine. There is no cure. But we can all do our part in preventing it. Getting regular check ups and doing self breast exams can help in a big way. If you suspect someone in your family has it, urge them to get a check up. The more people in your family who have breast cancer, the more YOU are prone to it. If breast cancer is diagnosed early, there is a greater chance of survival than those who find out later. Cancer knows no age or sex. Both males and females can develop breast cancer.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Let’s help out by spreading the word. Tell your friends, family, or just reblog this. I ask everyone to please help those who in need. If you can, give a little to foundations, like the Bacolod Kadughan Foundation for Breast Care Inc in Bacolod City.
Thank you everyone!!
If you want to know more about this foundation check out the link at the end of this post. :D
